Most modern CDs have a "jukebox" program that senses when the CD is inserted into a computer and thus won't let you see the files on the mounted CD. Put the CD in a music player and the jukebox program does not run, the CD acts like a music CD. There may be software out there that does read an audio CD.

I have used SoundBlaster Live! pci card through 3 computer systems. SoundBlaster comes with an impressive suite of programs for working with sound. One of the more useful features in the Recorder was "What You Hear" and the signal at the sound card was captured in the file format of my choice. Note, you would need another software to convert to .MP3 (and they sell it at most software stores).

There are several free sound recorders that record whatever you're playing; Windows XP has one built in...look at Start - programs - accessories - entertainment.
There are also programs like Soundpad that you can add.

Start the cd and then start the recorder.
To change the file format try Audacity, click File - Export As then pick the format you want.

Itunes can import your songs as MP3s in case you replace the settings. flow into the typical techniques window and click on the Import Settings button. the place it says "Import using:" replace it from the default AAC encoder to the MP3 encoder. in case you do no longer prefer to apply iTunes, i might propose using the LAME encoder. it rather is unfastened, and is named between the excellent MP3 encoders. flow to the LAME internet site for extra suggestions on the thank you to acquire and use.
