Soak it in water for about 20 minutes prior to baking, it will last you a lifetime...and ît will add moisture to what you bake in return....

Soak the terra cotta parts top and bottom, in water for thirty minutes then drain and dry off and use immediately. The water will release during cooling and give your food a nice moist character while cooking.

dry heat & dry earthen ware do not go together,soak in water & dry is right,i lightly oil the sides before putting in the contents.

Use it to serve the meal. Un-annealed ceramics must be slowly cooled and heated, so they won't shatter.
