Usually four main characteristics: that everything has to be 'just so' - for example I knew someone with OCD who couldn't sit down to a meal unless the plates, cutlery, glasses, etc., were arranged in a particular (unchanging) order; some 'superstitious' behaviour like never walking on the cracks in the pavement (I don't mean those everyday superstitions like not walking under ladders - these superstitions are unique to the person concerned); the need to keep checking things, e.g. 'must make sure we've closed the back door' but many times over; and the need to repeat particular actions, for example 'must turn round seven times before going into the next room.'
People with OCD may not show all four of these characteristics but they usually show two or three, and some other guides are that they get very, very upset if these needs are thwarted (e.g. if interrupted in a routine need to start from the very beginning); the behaviour doesn't have any apparent utility; and it's present all or nearly all the time.
It can be treated, usually with a mixture of talking therapy and drug therapy - treatment is usually successful though it can take time, depending on severity.
Hope that helps.

This is a disorder where people find themselves compulsively checking things over ond over again. Sometimes such things as whether they have locked up behind themselves when leaving the home. Locked the car. They often have a compulsion to wash their hands freqently, and don't like to touch anything they think may be unclean, that could be anything, like a chair, a door handle, a switch, anything that other people touch.
They need diagnosing by a GP, and usually need some kind of therapy.
Hope this helps.

does she get genuinely upset over minor details? is she constantly stressing? does she have very strange and severe habits? if so she may do, but if not it's possible she just has a few anxieties
