heya i always go to a salon, but i know loads of people who do their own hair and it looks fab :) so its up to you, if ur confident you can do it ,then go ahead :) but if not, go to a salon or if u know any of your friends who are good at hair, get them to do it.
if you are doing it, make sure you dont get any in your eyes if you do rinse straight away and always read the packet first.
hope this helps :)

Always used to do it myself, then I went to a salon, and the results are so much more natural! My hair is much better condition, doesn't need doing as often, roots every 6-7 weeks, full head once every 4 months. So it doesn't work out too expensive. Started with a good salon, and a trainee, she's now fully qualified so it costs a little more, but she keeps full records of my treatments and makes good suggestions. I know have hair that looks completely natural, full of different tones, which I couldn't do myself.

I have mine done at a salon. However, if my daughter wasn't a hairdresser, I were younger and felt fairly confident, I'd probably do it myself.
What I would do the first time though is discuss it with friends who also do their own. Find out what their recommendations are. You might even want to have someone assist you the first time.
I learned that most people that have bad experiences, omit the advise about doing a test spot before doing their entire head. I've known of hairdressers that have not done a test on a first time client and now regret it.

I have done both in the past, but I would definitely choose to go to a salon. Any good salon knows how serious a bad reaction to hair dye can be and you will have to have a skin test done before they even touch you hair. More and more people are having reactions, even people who have been using the same hair dye for years. I know it's more expensive but your worth it and no one can say they don't like a bit of pampering!!

I am lucky that I have mid/dark brown hair and just occasionally put a semi permanent colour in every now and then to give the colour a glossy boost. Plus it's cheaper to do it yourself at home.

I tend to do both. But if i were you i would go to the salon.. even though it is more money it ACCUALLY changes your hair color more and it isnt 7 dollars to do it yourself. i would say go to the salon you will be more happy with the outcomes

I get a friend to do it for me, and she doesn't work at a salon, and it comes out perfect to me, although my hair is big and frizzy.
