The verse "The joy of the Lord is my strength" - is literal.
I experience it daily, and have done for many years.
Even in the most tragic of circumstances, the joy of the Lord has and still is my strength!
Praise God.

I would say that it could be BOTH. Joy in the Lord is a strength to get us through each day here on earth. However, it could be used in spiritual warfare..........for example, Jesus said to be happy when people persecute you because it only adds to your heavenly rewards. That is not quote/unquote. I just remember things in my own understanding/language. Also, the new testament tells us to try and focus on the good things in our earthly life and not so much on negative stuff..... not that you shouldn't be watching for the signs of the end which could be portrayed as negative. So much more could be said. Please study a refutable bible....as God said that IF YOU DRAW NEAR TO ME, I WILL DRAW NEAR TO YOU.

The idea of spiritual warfare is a misunderstanding of the nature of God.
It sees a God so weak that he needs help in controlling his own creation.
God is not in need of anything, He has everything under control.

Strength can be referred to a pillar or a foundation from which all other things are built.
Also, the onrush of a typhoon or the gravity of a blackhole is strength.

non secular conflict is at the same time as the devil continuous makes you sense some thing except the way it really is that God needs you to sense; jointly with depressed or unhappy. yet another celebration of non secular conflict is at the same time as someone continually prays for some thing the guy who's praying is declared to be, "combating" for the reason behind the different.
