Because the Chinese do not believe in washing dirty linen in public. I honestly think this is a very good attitude. Chinese acknowledge the short-comings of their government but that doesn't mean they (the Chinese) should announce to the world.

I'ld have to agree with Lawrence on this. I live in Northern China and my Chinese friends do complain about the government. My Chinese sister's parents told her not to join the Communist Party because it would make it more difficult for her to travel outside the country. People do complain and protest publicly. They find ways to circumvent laws they find unreasonable. Chinese people are no different than us, really. And, like Lawrence, I find China a much safer place to live than America. You shouldn't believe all the negative stuff you hear about China, as our news tends to focus only on the bad. It's really an amazing and wonderful place to live.

The Chinese are just like evey one else world wide. They love thier country but also recognize the faults that the country has. They do express their feeling bad or good and are not penalized for this. However, public addressing of their feelings is not common but does happen, and of course in some cities marches have been formed. No one was shot or jailed. In fact here in Sichuan i feel much safer than in my small little town in the USA.. Please do not think of this country as a Nazi hitler type regime or even what you may think of as strict controlled communism. Their is control here but no more so than the other countries around the world. In some aspects the people here are less controlled than in many of the industrialized countries.
Come here and see for yourself.

i agree with lawrence, if everyone looked alike no one would know what country they were in. everyone complains about every govenment. you can't please everyone. i'm from the u.s. and i am in china now. the only complaint i have is that being from a rural area in the u.s. i'm not used to the population. other than that, china is a great place to live and i plan on doing just that when i retire.

You must have never been to Beijing. Most people in Beijing do nothing but complain about their country.
