LOL, you may not get tetanus, but gosh I would say with in a few days you may get sick. Why don't you go to the hospital? How long ago was your last tetanus shot? I haven't had one in about 15 years, they hurt too bad.

You have a few days to get the booster but ASAP is best.
Tetanus isn't about the rust, it is found in the dirt. I had to get a tetanus shot as well as four stitches two years ago for wiping out in a gravel parking lot. No nails anywhere...but the good news is (and keep in mind that I am severely needlephobic because of tetanus shots) that for some reason the one I got most recently didn't even compare in soreness to years past. And I wasn't any more relaxed than ever before so it wasn't about muscle tension.
So if you need to go, just please go. You don't want anything bad to happen. Plus the wound needs to be checked for infection and you may need antibiotics or stitches?

Tetnis is a bacteria that needs a combination of warm, wet and animal feces and rusty nail to develop. These conditions are commonly found on farms. Just stepping on a rusty nail around your suburban home tend not to be an opportunity for tetnis. However, it's always a good idea to check with your primary physician.

It does take a short amount of time. If you have had a tetanus shot within the past 10 years then you're okay. If not go to your local medical centre and get a shot. Don't waste time though, a shot is much better than the alternative. Believe me.

There is no way of knowing that you will have tetanus infection, but I was told to get the shot with in 30 hrs . So I waited and went to the doctors and not the emergency room. I called the doctors told them what I needed. Went there the nurse gave me the injection and only charged me 12 bucks. I would strongly recommend getting the shot ,a ounce of prevention..........

tetanus.
it is a few days, up to 2 weeks.
get your shots RIGHT NOW no matter when the injury happened. Tetanus is completely preventable and it is one of the nastier ways to leave this world (and that's no joke)

I have no idea how fast, I believe it is different for each persons body chemistry, but your best bet is to go to the E.R. A.S.A.P. after the incident
