would everyone on the plane be in danger if a bullet lodged in the wall of the plane? wouldn't that depressurize the plane?

Cabin pressure is controlled by a lot of air being pumped into the cabin by the engines and out through an opening that is controlled in size. A bullet hole or two won't make much difference and it can be compensated for anyway. A large hole like a bomb would make is another story.

they could be on any flight, yet they do no longer seem to be on all flights. maximum human beings of flights don't have them. while you're curious, US Air Marshals usually artwork in communities of two or 3, they're required to flow interior the direction of an analogous protection examine element that the conventional ticketed passengers flow by using (regardless of the certainty that as quickly as they arrive across themselves as Air Marshals to the officers on the checkpoint, they're waved by using to the "go out lane"), and that they are required to pre-board the plane in the previous all different passengers and in undeniable view of the different passengers (regardless of the certainty that there is not any fact of their boarding). long and short, in case you spot a collection of two or 3 human beings in undeniable clothing breeze interior the direction of the checkpoint or board the airplane basically in the previous they make the 1st boarding fact for those with specific desires, they're probably U.S. Air Marshals.

Cabin's safe. a bullet hole leaks slowly -- bomb going off or window going out -- may be a different story. even if a window gets shot out completely and the cabin depressurizes it is not likely anyone would get sucked out. The Pilot and co-pilot have oxygen so they won't pass out like the passengers did and the flight attendants will have oxygen to you pretty quick. have a nice trip.

Air Marshals are undercover armed guards on board aircraft to counter hijack and other hostile acts.
They are required to use a special ammo. type that will break-up on impact, minimising the risk of bullets exiting the target (Terrorist) and continuing on to damage the aircraft or people who might be in the near vacinity of the action.
The bullet is designed to put down the threat and minimise damage.

Contrary to popular opinion , a bullet or two can actually be fired in an aircraft cabin, go through the fuselage and not have explosive decompression result. There was an episode of Myth Busters that showed this to be true.

being an armed marshal does not mean that you have a gun with normal bullets in it...

you could be armed with a stun gun that uses electric impulses to render the salient harmless, an air gun that has a projectile made out of rubber, a small bat made out of wood to club the salient.....and the list can go on....

now to the rest of your Q. yes a bullet can couse the plain to depressurize and the maskes will fall from the celling ect..... but the marshals will not let that happen and you are just as safe as the next person unless you are planning to hijack a plain and then i say GOOD LUCK.......

because you would have a better chance to rob a bank and get away......

I believe the air marshals use fairly light caliber pistols (.357 SIG) with hollowpoint Glaser slugs. The bullets are intended to fragment rather than penetrate, but of course there are lots of windows made of acrylic...

They use a special kind of bullet that cannot pierce the outer shell of the plane.

Oh sure, a rapid decompression is WAY more dangerous than a terrorist on the plane in desperate need of getting shot at.......
