I've only tried to upgrade an operating system once, and it was a nightmare. Never again. I'd rather wait until I need a new computer to get the new OS already installed. The following comes from David Einstein's computer column in last week's San Francisco Chronicle:

"TIP OF THE WEEK
In coming weeks, I'll be addressing questions about Vista, Microsoft's new operating system. One thing I can tell you right now is that if you're satisfied with Windows XP, don't bother upgrading to Vista. Aside from the somewhat flashier interface, many of the important improvements in the new system (such as fast searching) can be matched with free Internet add-ons for Windows XP."

No, not anytime soon, probably the visual interface.

Having lived through all of Microsoft's OS releases, I can tell you the best thing to do is wait. On average I have waited at least 6 months before considering an upgrade. This seems to be a good amount of time for software & hardware vendors to get their stuff ready for the next OS.

I know right now a lot of gamers who are "upset" because they have Nvidia video cards and they don't have stable drivers for Vista yet. And among some colleagues of mine the general feeling is wait and see.

As a previous poster said, NEVER upgrade. Just buy the full version of the OS or get it with a new machine.

Did you upgrade?
NO
Do you plan to?
Not as long as MS supports XP SP2.
What's the coolest feature of Vista?
Nothing I can't do with XP. (Vista Transformation Pack)
What's the worst?
That it's not yet compatible with all software makers, that it cost to much & it takes up 8 times the Harddrive space of XP Pro.
