An IQ test is based on intelligence. There are age based tests, so the age then becomes irrevelant and you simply concentrate on the score. 118 is above average. the typical Bell curve in IQ 's is 90-110 is the majority...anything above is above avg intelligence and anything below is below avg intelligence. She is slightly above avg.

The 'average' score for anybody any age is 100. That means that you fall right in the middle of everybody's abilities for that age group.
118 on most tests is above average. Not by a lot, but still above average. It's probably around the 80th-85th percentile (this will depend on the test, however--someone can get 118 on a test, but it might be the same thing as 112 on another tests or 130 on yet another; percentiles mean more). This percentile means that of all the people who would take the test and who have taken the test, only about 15-20 people out of a hundred would do better than the student in question.

glurpy is right, IQ has nothing to do with age since the tests are adjusted to account for age. A person's IQ stays the same for their whole life. 118 is just above average for any age.

most college students have an IQ of 120. 118 is good for anyone, regardless of their age.
