Me and all my freiends are emos right and when we go through town we get shouted at by others and i just wanna know why? i mean its not like we are doing anyone any harm by the way we dress!! so why shout at us!! people think that because your emo that you slit your wrists and all that crap but not all emos do!! so y ? can anyone tell me y ?and do u think its fair?

I don't know where you live, but here in the North Eastern states, Emo's are more preppy, they shop at Gap, A&E and all those other stores that carry skinny jeans and polos, and sure people are annoyed at them because they're the more "fragile" genre/stereotype.
Unless you're dressing in all black and calling yourself Emo, then that's probably why they're saying stuff to you. Emo's, as I mentioned above, dress preppy, but the Emo's that are being what they are simply because it's scene and think it's cool to dress as a Punk or Goth when they clearly are not are usually the kids that have obscenities screamed at them..They're Genre-Confused. So maybe it's something you're just bringing on yourself. But just because you are a certain "label" doesn't mean you have to stand there and take everything thrown at you and not do anything about it...Stand up for yourself. I absolutely HATE it when kids are being made fun of and then they whine and cry about it later. You have a mouth, learn how to use it...Sorry...My parents raised me to handle my own and learn to stick up for myself.
A little FYI...Black baggy pants and shirts with chains and bondage straps is not Emo. This is called KinderGoth. Ask anyone that knows a thing or two about true styles and they'll tell you the same. And I do not know any Emo's that dress like this or cut or are depressed. They write music and poetry, yes, but so does every other artist on this earth. They are sometimes more depressed, yeah, but so are a billion other people on this earth. Does that make them Emo? NO. Emo is just a new fad that got twisted when Dashboard came out and told everyone to cry because it would make them special and cool.

Because emos are really quite annoying sometimes. They get on their high horse about how everyone else is so conformist and they think they're so individual and special, when no one is more of a conformist than them. It's a cookie cutter personality that people buy into. So many of them really look down on the rest of us, like they're on some higher plane, it's pathetic. Just be yourself- listen to what you like, wear what you want, there's no need to classify yourself and become a clone (and then complain about how everyone else is such a clone as if you aren't)

i know what you mean, i see it around all the time. people think they can make fun of emos like they do to gays when they call them "faggots". i think people do it because they steroetype you guys and think you'll just go home and cry and slit your wrists. i know it's not true that all emos slit their wrists, anyone could if they wanted to. just because you dress a certain way doesn't mean you should be treated like that. i don't think it's fair but i wouldn't let it bother you.

because they are stereotyping dont pay any attention to what they say its who you are and you should be proud of that....dont worry about the way people think of you worry about what you think of yourself and just live your life....i hope that helps=]
