I've asked this question a while ago, but thought I would ask it again seeing that there are so many new participants in the South African section. I've met a couple and when I met them they were all walking in the street. Tanya Fourie, "Bertie", Koos Kombuis, Nelson Mandela, F.W. De Klerk, and many more I have seen walking on the street. Mandela and De Klerk, obviously with a big entourage at the University of Stellenbosch, years ago before Mandela became president. I've heard that celebrities in South Africa don't go out that much these days after the attack on Anton Goosen. Have you spotted or met any in the last few months?

I've seen the Protea Squad, Gerald Majola (CEO of Cricket South Africa), Kurt Daren, Morne Steyn, Victor Matfield, Bryan Habana, Lee-Ann Liebenberg.

And as for what Innocentia said, yes we do, but obviously we won't have such a "Tabloid" as America has. Our movies is really not up to scratch and we do not have the "paparazzi" like in America where they sell one picture for $50 000. Those guys make a living from it... We just don't have a market for it. So I agree to disagree, we do have celebrities.

Not recently, as I don't live there...LOL Used to live next to Steve Hofmeyer, met him a few times. I got great respect for what I hear he is doing now. ( Being the "voice" for Afrikaans people.) I wish they would all use there celebrity status to do a bit more regarding the problems. Was there not another great (coloured) singer murdered a couple of months ago?

In the last few weeks I've seen the entire SA cricket team at Sandton City. I saw Graeme Smith going into a weapons shop, wonder if he is out to get Minki's new husband lol.

I also saw the woman who acts in Backstage, the one with black hair with an accent. Sorry, don't know her name since I don't watch the show.

Well...not in the last few months, but last year and in 2004! I met Zuraida Jardine...sorry, but I didn't like her! And then I've also seen Kobus Wiese a few times! He often visited my town! To check on his restaurant, I'd imagine!

to be quite honest Porgie, South Africa doesnt really have any celebrities, unlike the likes of Mr Neslon Mandela and any other celebrated South Africans. We, i personally think, have television personalities. Those people we see on TV, who are like any ordinary joe's, never find the tabloids digging in their bins or women throwing underwear at them and owning multi million rand estates and so forth...
i bump into and work with most of these people on a daily basis. and all they are, is ordinary people making a living out of what they are good at and like...

No i have not seen any. Maybe they are all leaving us.? With celebrities been killed i would be keeping a low profile as well .Its a pity us "normal" people cant do that.
