Yes you can if your window xp is bootable!

Once you bootup with win xp disc
- choose a fresh install option
- select D then L to delete your current partition (this will wipe everything out, so make sure your data and files are backup first)
- reformat with NTFS
- reinstall xp

and your pc's should be as good as new!

What I think most people haven't realised is that if you do boot from your Windows CD and reinstall, that's all you'll have on your hard drive. If there were other programs on your PC, such as Office, Graphics applications, etc. they will be gone. Also, anything else you've downloaded or saved onto your hard drive will also be gone.

Before you reinstall Windows, make sure you've got the driver disks for all of your hardware as they won't be recognised unless you tell the computer about them.

If, however, you have restore disk(s) and not an actual Windows XP CD, go right ahead. You'll find all the drivers and extra programs that were there when you purchased your computer should be there.

Yes you can. When booting from the CD just delete the present partition ('C') and create a new one.

This does not fully format the drive, however the next step of the installation will format the newly create partition.
