I have just read the newspaper article in the Rapport about Bok Van Blerk (alias Louis Pepler) talking about all the misinterpretations leading up to the whole "De La Rey Revolution". Is this song the early phase of an Afrikaner rebellion or just good music? Max Du Preez claims it's just bad old attitudes refusing to die and an inability to adjust. I know this song has been featured many times in this category, but I have found new interest in it from this article, http://www.news24.com/Rapport/Nuus/0,7718,752-795_2074588,00.html

It's a song about a piece of history, as such people interpret it differently. For those who see it as a call to arms, it will be a call to arms because that is what they want it to be. For others it is just a song that reminds them of what their people went through.

I think we are going to get a lot of "De La Rey"-like songs in the future. One reason being that if you look at history books in school entire section of the history carved by the forefathers of the newly oppressed have been removed and keeping that history alive through popular mediums like music is just a natural way of making sure your heritage is not lost forever.

It is just a normal song that some people have pulled out of perspective! Everyone needs someone to look up to as a national leader, and since so many of our white leaders have been killed or made "racists", they cannot lead us anymore. So what is wrong with singing a song about an old and great leader we had? Can't we at least be granted that? I mean, first they take away our dignity by calling us racists, then our language, then our jobs, our farms, our laws (reffering to gay mariage etc.) and now our voices? How is this diffrent from Nazi Germany?

O, And it just shows they are scared of us....they might be planning something far more than just a "rallying call for arms"!!!

It's just a song, for heaven's sake!!!

O, no offence against you, though!! =D

Never heard it, can't find the song or the words for it on the net? Interesting article, sounds as if it is once again just something else that can be used to show people how terrible our white people are!
