I was thinking of taking my ultrasound that tells the sex of our baby and scanning it into a card form. These will be my invitations for a baby shower. Instead of just buying them I wanted to put thought into them. On the scanned picture, I will have the name of the baby (Micah for a boy and Kathryn for a girl) on bottom in the white part. Do you think it is a good idea?

Thanks for everyones input. I plan on using the whole ultrasound picture but, I just that would be a personal touch to the invitations. I was going to get several extra pictures and only scan one and then use the scanned copy for scanning the other copies.

I think its a fantastic idea its personal and you've put thought in to it rather then just buying something that alot of people use .. I knew what i was having with my son so i said they were all invited for Camerons baby shower and i made them all bule and boyish. I also think it gives them more of an idea on what to get you knowing the sex of the baby.

Congrats and Good Luck

Some people might look funny on the "parts" picture, but an ultrasound on the invite is a great idea. If all the people you're inviting are good-humored and open minded, a parts picture would certainly tell them you know what they can buy!
I'm actually making my own announcements with a picture that I will take when she's born (this week!).

It sounds cute. However, I don't know if ultrasound pictures can be scanned. I was told not to expose mine to heat. I would ask the ultrasound technician if it would hurt the pictures before attempting it. If you get the go ahead, it is a very unique and creative idea. Just make sure you use one that is labeled, those things can be hard to read. Hope that helps.Congrats.

It is a cute idea, but I wouldn't go with a picture of the sex. I would scan a picture of the face or entire baby and put an announcement on top with the baby's name in either pink or blue. I did something similar. I sent out "gender announcements" at 4 months when we found out our baby was going to be a boy. Even though I had a picture of his parts, I just sent one out of the entire baby and put "We're anxiously awaiting the arrival of Jason. Here's for you his first baby picture." Then, whoever wanted to buy gifts for the birth/baby shower already knew the gender. I think I would feel odd staring at a picture of some baby's gender parts that wasn't mine... I'd rather see the baby itself.

That is a great idea, and it tells the guests the sex of the baby so they get the correct colored gifts, clothes, etc. Also, being able to see an ultrasound of your baby tends to get girls excited about it, and will motivate them to come (or at least it would me!) Wish i had thought of that... (I made big baby bottle cut-outs from a scrapbook store in blue, wrote the name Daniel on the front and it opened up to the details.) congrats on your baby!! ♥

CUTE IDEA!!!

BUT, I was not able to scan my boys ultrasound on the scanner. You may have to take a good picture of it with a digital camera then put into the computer for editing.

Congrats, good luck, and God bless!!!!

umm, i have an idea. how about buying buying baby bottles, then put the invitations inside it. now, the guests will have an idea of what the occasion is even before opening the invitation. good luck and have fun at the party!
