I met John Mayer three weeks ago when I got the chance to sit-in on an interview session before one of the concerts on his Continuum tour. He was talking about experiences from his early career (going to Berklee College and dropping out, moving to Atlanta to pursue his career, etc.) and writing and being a producer for the first time on Continuum.

He was really very funny in a sacrastic sort-of-way, and down-to-earth. I loved that he is still humble even in the face of his success. He talked a lot about learning something from everything you do. How he continually observes the people he meets professionally and personally, and he tries to absorb as much from them as he can. Taking their ideas and applying them or improving upon them. And also knowing in your gut that you can do what you set out to do in your career. It was good advice for life and really helped answer some uncertainties I was having about my own career. And I got to go to the Soundcheck, which was great, because I had never heard him live. (And yes, he sounds really go live.)
