Other than the standard "were as good as men at absolutely everything" hollywood thing, in my years as a mechanic I never saw or heard of even one single female tech. 2 were in my 6 month pre-apprentiship program and both withdrew midterm.

You Bet I have Buck-o ! I have seen Female Mechanics sence I was Born ! My Mother ran a gas station side by side with My Dad for twenty five years ! That woman knows more about cars and trucks than most of these so called "Techs" they have out there now days and I'll put money on that ! Also there Is a Little Lady on this site that is a Dam good Mechanic/ Tech in her own right and she is probably better than the ones she works with....I have read her answers on here to Questions about car problems and she is really on top of it ! So don't think that just because You Haven't seen one in all your "Years" as a mechanic (how many is that ? 2...maybe 3?) that they aren't out there. You can bet your bottom dollar that if you ever go to a job where there is one you are going to have to pack a really big lunch befor you can even think about Taking over her spot in the shop......She had to work harder than any Man ever did to prove herself in that shop and win the respect of the other mechaincs . I was taught more from my Mom About turning wrenches than I was by my Dad and I did my first tune-up in 1962 when I was 8 yrs old . On a 48 ford Flat Head V8 ! You ever do one? My Mom Could make them .....Walk ,Talk, Shake & Dance ! And she didn't wear any dam latex gloves on her hands either ! She wasn't affraid of getting her hands dirty Like these "Techs" are . She knew that they were washable !

I have been a tech for 12 years now and have seen a few. There were a couple at the GM dealership I used to work at. There was one that I knew at a transmission shop that actually rebuilds transmissions. Her name was Rhonda and my god she was hot. I was even going to ask her out then I found out that she swings for the other team if you know what I mean. What a waste.

I use to have a neighbor that could fix anything it seemed. If she couldn't fix it you needed another one.She could rebuild an engine from the ground up,starters and even carburetors. She looked good on top of that.

I have them work on my car all the time. I personnally prefer them washing my car in bikinis, but the mechanical work they do is exceptional.

uh, me. i never went to school for it, but, ever since i was old enough to pick up a tool and knew what was what, i helped out as much as i could. unless i need a rack or some tool i dont have i can pretty much do it myself.
