AVG free is the one for you. Uninstall your current virus sofware first as you must never run two virus software packages on the same computer and then install this (its free and one of the best) - http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10596553.html?tag=lst-0-1
Most internet users who know about this swear by it - read the reviews at the link.

I use AVG and find that it works very well. I only found this out because I actually paid about £35.00 a couple of years ago for McAfee. I was impressed that I had updates just about every time that I went on-line - but that eventually was the downfall! All of those updates just clogged up my computer! I had to take my PC to the computer hospital because not only was it running really slowly, it also wouldn't allow me to receive any emails!

£40 lighter - but my computer was running as though I had paid out for a £200 plus upgrade!

Oh, and why did you happen to mention Dell? Are they pushing you to accept this software? No matter what they offer you (unless it is a new computer), don't go for it. Windows XP has its own firewall - your are pretty well protected from everything. And there will always be hackers that can get through most of these things anyway. You protect yourself from the little hackers - if the big ones want to get to you - they will!

If you like what you got, I would stick with it BUT don't do the auto-renewal. I would buy it off E-bay and that way you can save. The free anti-virus software does work good but if you feel better by using mcafee or Norton, go for it. Its all about piece of mind

I'd go with AVG. I've been using it for 3 years now and nothing has slipped thru. But make sure to uninstall McAfee first and always keep any anit-virus program keep up-to-date.

Personally I would not waste my money on McAfee. Not that it is bad software, but why pay for it when you can get programs just as good for free? I'd suggest going to tucows.com and entering "Spybot search and destroy" in the search box. Its free and works well.

You should change. Instead of trying to find a virus protection software for a PC you should change to a Mac.

Hackers and virus programmers don't spend that much time trying to break macs because so few people have them and because Macs are so secure even without adding virus protection.

It will be an investment at first, but it will pay off since you won't have to keep buying virus software and upgrades, and you won't have to take your computer in to be repaired.

I agree with the previous answers, uninstall macafee and install AVG.
It's also a good idea to install Spybot to take care of any spyware.
Both are free.

If it work on your pc and having no problem with it i dont see any reason to change. Unless you want a higher end individual protection to individual kinds of computer attackers. Like for antivirus, antispyware, antihackers, etc.
