I can say it is due to complicated historical reasons. But in short, it was due to the fact the US stays on a place in which Red Indians used to live there until colonialists occupied their land, and since those colonialists basically had no enemies (besides the Red Indians), and had to be better then them at least on some moral issue, the US became a democracy. Russia, on the other hand, had enemies and wars, so Russians had to feel they have a strong government, which eventually lead to communism.

Because the US lives up to their role laid down by the Founding Fathers... and do go to war thousands of miles away in the name of "democracy" (Vietnam, Iraq); while Russia is the largest communist state (once upon a time Big Brother to communist East European states).

I don't know. What I do know is that democracy (we're actually a republic) is a political system and communism is an economic system. So your question is apples and oranges.

It's because at one time, the US actually was a defender of democracy.

Now it only seeks to destroy democracies (eg. Chile, Argentina, Nicaragua, Greece, Iran, etc.).
