I want to view the FTSE 100 index live on my laptop, I want to be able to see it moving up and down in real-time. Is this possible and if it is can it be done without signing up with any of the online trading companies like Barclays Stockbrokers or IG Investments. I have looked into the London Stock Exchange website but I don't think it is possible to view live. Apologies if this is a boring issue but I really would be delighted if someone out there could assist - Many thanks!

If you just want the overall level there is one way - try Ladbrokes - they take bets on the position of the index over the day. It doesn't give you the actual situation of the constituents but you can watch the overall level if that's what floats your boat!

If you go to www.bbc.co.uk and then go to the Business Section and click on 'Market Data', you'll find a button marked 'Open Marketwatch Ticker.' This may be what you are looking for.
