First answerer nearly right. Correct answer is pi metres. Diameter is increased by 1 m, not the radius.

Diameter increased by 1 m means
d -> d+1
firstly, the earth's circumference is = 22/7 x d m
However then it will become = 22/7 x (d+1) m
since the d has changed into (d + 1) m
Thus, the change is = 22/7 x (d+1) - 22/7 x d
=22/7 x d + 22/7 - 22/7 x d
=22/7 m

The earth's circumference C = 2 * pi * radius
or since diameter is 2 * radius then C = pi * diameter

Increase diameter by 1 meter then new C = pi * (diameter + 1 meter)
So the increase is pi * (diameter + 1) = pi * diameter
or pi * (1)
So the answer is pi meters, which is around 3.14 meters.

L=2πr
dL=2π(r+1/2)-2πr=π

First answers was actually correct, as he adds 0.5 to r, while the second answers is also correct since he adds 1 to d

Basically 1+2 and 2+1 is the same right?

Hello Rod Stewart. Well it seems that most people have given you the correct answer of pi metres so there's no point in me explaining it again. In any case:-

original circumference= 2(pi)r
increased circum= 2(pi) (r+0.5)
= 2(pi)r + (pi)
therefore the rearth's circumference has increased by (pi)
