How should I go about being a make-up artist with only having a G.E.D? Any ideas for schools and tips or advice for preparing me?
This is something I have always enjoyed I am just a little confused and I would love to know what other people have done in the same situation as I am in. Love some advice about what to do, how to get started and good schools in Az.

Theres this company called HEX its short for Hollywood Expressions

i think they will have some classes in Arizona.

You can also try applying at the MAC store. They train you to use and demonstrate their products on customers like a sales specialist would do. They can further continue your training and studies and send you to train in the MAC makeup school in New York.

From a pro, self-taught, successful MUA. Don't waist your money on makeup school if you really have talent. It's like going to school to be a singer-- you either have it or you don't. Self-educate yourself by reading & practicing. Your best bet is assisting an established MUA to gain real work experience.

Getting work as a MUA depends on your natural ability & work experience not so much formal training. Get your portfolio together by taking on work on a TFP basis-- you may not get paid for your time but you'll have a professional model & professional photos of your work.

Check out the modeling websites' forums (modelmayhem.com is my favorite) for more details on gaining experience & building a portfolio.
