Can anyone give me a short, detailed summary of the first part of the trilogy (Oedipus Rex)? I have read the book but I am still unsure of some parts and would like to make sure I am getting the essense of the book correctly. Just Oedipus Rex.

Oedipus was born to King Laius and Queen Jocasta of Thebes. After his birth, he was taken to a mountain to die, but was found by a shepherd and taken to the court of The Corinthian king Polybus. As a young man, Oedipus is given a prophetic warning that he will kill his father and marry his mother (a great sin). Oedipus leaves Corinth, believing that the prophecy is about his adoptive parents, trying to avoid doing these horrible things. However, on his travels, he meets his true father Laius, gets into a battle with him and kills him. He's unknowingly fulfilled the first part of the prophecy. Coming to Thebes, he meets the living Sphinx which will not allow him pass unless he answers a specific riddle. Oedipus answers correctly and frees Thebes from the Sphinx. For acheiving this, Oedipus is given the Queen Jocasta's hand and kingship of the city.
He's now innocently fulfilled both parts of the prophecy. When the play begins, the citizens of Thebes are begging Oedipus to end the horrible plague that's tomented the city. They ask him to find and punish the murderer of their former King. Oedipus, who doesn't realize that he himself is the killer since he doesn't know the name of the man he met in battle, swears to exile whomever did this terrible thing. Finally, a former servant of Laius identifies Opedipus as the murderer. Simultaneously, a messenger from Corinth arrives to tell Oedipus that King Polybus, his adoptive father, is dead. This messenger knows that Oedipus was adopted, and as he tells him the story of his being found, Jocasta realizes with horror that her husband is also her son and runs away. Oedipus slowly comes to understand that he himself is his real father's murderer and that he's married his mother in incest as the prophecy stated. He searches for Jocasta and finds that she's hung herself in despair. He takes her brooches and blinds himself, He then goes into exile as he promised the Thebans he would make the murderer do.

I don't go near any spoiler sites of any description and that includes WWE, TNA, ROH, NJPW and Pro NOAH.In the first place, these sites operate on theory, speculation and "second-guessing".Nobody knows for sure how Vince or Dixie have booked their respective matches. So how can any credence be given to these sites before the events have happened. Whatever promotion it is, i want to watch the shows without any prior knowledge so i can try to work out what's going to happen during the match. What move comes next, will he go up on the ropes or go for a technical finisher etc. That's the fun, the excitement and the mystique of being a wrestling fan.Watching and waiting to see how a match pans out, what feuds start, what angles will be starting etc.Spoilers ruin this and just deaden or numb the whole experience for the genuine fans.Wrestling entertains, spoilers ruin it.
