5 days a week just seems like hard work, I wonder who came up with the idea!

In an 'Ideal World' this whole issue wouldn't arise, we would not 'idealy' want a system which exists entirely to create monetary wealth for the minority at the expense of the majority, nor would we want to support a system by working in it which systematically rapes the plantes resources, or more down to earth, which steals them from other countries at virtually no cost by keeping those countries in states of anarchy and strife - think of the mineral wealth of the African Nations, or the Oil wealth of the Middle East.

However, that being said, if you want to know an answer in relation to the World as it is, then simpy I suppose the split should be 50/50 but without the subsequent drop in wages/salaries. Often the Government or groups on their behalf say we should work less to have a better work/life balance, and we should want for less things, mortgages, cars, schooling for our children, private health care - because we don't have much of a free service left etc. etc. i.e we get less pay for less work done, BUT many folk actually work for subsistence wages anyway. I am lucky, but many I know (and help) have families to support on wages for a full 5 / 6 day week of as little as £220 per week (take home). How can they afford to pay a mortage, let alone earn less? As for cars etc. everything is 'out of town' now and if you remember the phrase to the unemployed "get on your bike and find work" i.e. travel to find work, well no real public transport means USE A CAR. How is it possible to win in a mind blowingingly ridiculous world like this? Hope this helps, probably not the simple answer you wanted, but not bad for a Sunday morning - don't forget now,.......Shoulder that oxens yoke come monday mornin.

Well 4 days at most 3 would be mint, be honest not working at all would do me. But 4 days because 5 you finish on the Fri yer, you have friday, saturday free for clubbing etc, then Sundays just a get prepaird for work day (depending what work you actually do) so you only really have 1 day completly of work to do what you want if you get what i mean and te guy who came up with the 5 days a week needs somthing bad to happen to him/her because he/she just doesnt know what they've done.

I think I'd like to do four days a week - other than the weekend, I'd have one day per week so that I can make appointments for myself and the family that cannot be made at a weekend.

I'd also like more holiday and flexi-hours would be a fantastic bonus. I have to drive an hour to work and an hour back every day and this is 'wasted' time to me. Most of my work is in other countries and if I wourked a few hours extra a day, I could 'catch' more of the trading hours of the rest of the world.

Well as much as it sux ,no one ever said life was easy , I have a crew of 6 that work for me 3 on one job and 3 on another.., so all I have to do is go out and look at the job , and let them go do the work , I make an appearance a couple times per week maybe Mon., Wed.,and payday , I may spend anywhere from 3 - 10 hours "on the job" if that , per week ..plus I spend a little time out looking and pricing jobs,..................plenty of time with the children...

I always thought 5 day work weeks were a bit much too. 3 days of work and 4 days off a week sounds perfect.

As a week is 7 days I would be happy to work 3 and a half of those. If I had a professional trade I would be able to I guess.

Yeah, I agree on what you said. I should say 4 days a week we should go to work. Life is too short not to enjoy it. Work should be balance by enough recovery of ourself.

i could deal with a 4 day week. 2 days off just isnt enough. that 1 extra day would make a huge difference!

in basic terms approximately common :) because of the fact i don't prefer to spend too lots time with them reason if i spend too lots time around every person i'm getting easily annoyed..yet on a similar time i does not prefer to work out them each and every now and returned reason then i'd omit em .
