Believe it or not, people used to work around the office before the internet. Employees used to have to wait for their lunch hour or after work to do their shopping... Barbaric wasn't it?

One of my first computer-related jobs ironically almost never had me near a computer (I used to deliver and install home computers). I was working for a major computer store chain and sometimes when I had to go out on the sales floor I found a way to avoid getting interrupted by both customers and the other employees.
It's so simple....just put a few sheets of paper on a clipboard, even if they're all blank, and stare at it obsessively. Trust me, if you look sufficiently occupied, nobody will bother you.

They actually did work, instead of trying to hide their game of Solitaire, before the boss walked by them.
