LP was right--without knowing what need is, it's difficult to say what would be good for you.

If you need to do OCR on a large-scale, trying to use OCR software designed for individual consumers (the $200-$400) stuff probably won't work, because they require too much time to go back and correct the output. Arabic OCR is supposedly a really difficult problem.

Some higher-end software, such as a novodynamics (just look on the wikipedia Optical character recognition page)and Ar recognition (hungarian?) claim to be able to handle this sort of thing, but I don't know where they fall in terms of price. If someone else has experience with such stuff, hopefully we can get a response. The latter also does plate recognition too.

On the other hand, if this is low volume, you might try some of the freebies out there.

These are some of the wiki links

You haven't mentioned which platform you are ( or
intend ) using. Tricky one, either way.

There is some software out there, though I am
unable to testify as to either its accuracy or usability.
In certain cases, pricey as well, though not surprising
considering the effort involved for the task at hand!

Try the links below, which may assist you with further
investigation.
