Question for pregnant ladies only!?
Apart from ceasarian,After you give birth, that is if you have a normal pregnancy, do females get stitches on their vagina? does your vagina ever get back to the normal size like it was before? If yes what can be done to get it back to normal?

You will get stitches if you tear during delivery or if you have an episiotomy to help the baby come out. The tear or cut would be on the outside, just below your vagina. Some women do not tear or need an episiotomy, so they have no stitches.

If you do have stitches, they are self-dissolving and should go away by 3 weeks post-partum. Your doctor will schedule a follow-up appointment around 6 weeks to make sure that things are healed. At 6 weeks post-partum, most women are healed enough to resume sexual intercourse. You may be "looser" at first, but will tighten up in time. Kegel excersizes can help the process.

I'm not pregnant, but I've been freaked out about the stitches thing too. The short answer is, "No" you don't Have to have stitches. If you choose to have an episiotomy (when the doctor cuts part of the perineum on the outside of the vagina) then you will have to have stitches. A lot of doctors want women to have the episiotomy so that you won't tear down there when the baby comes out....which I hear is messier and harder to stitch. However, it's your body..you can choose not to have the episiotomy. Just make sure to tell the doctor ahead of time. Maybe your skin won't rip. I asked a question about episiotomies before and a woman answered and said she never had one done, and her skin never tore. She has 4 kids or so. She said when she was pregnant she would massage the skin down there with oil to help it get more flexible. I suppose you can gently stretch the skin on a daily basis too, to make the skin even more flexible. I personally don't want to have an episiotomy if I have a baby. My mom had one done with all of her children and she said the stitching up part is one of the most painful parts of the childbirth.

I didn't get stitches after either of my kids and my vagina is back to its normal size. I ts not like it stretches to the shape of a baby and stays that way.
My BF was slightly concerned that it would be 'loose' after having kids but its back to normal. Just do your pelvic floor muscles after birth.

I know from my first.....I had stitches....and my little angel was only 7lbs.. My second and third I didn't......but during the birth of my third, the doctor and nurse said everything was tight......they even made a little joke of what pc exercises can do. I'm sure you know what pc exercises are......but just in case.....it's like when you pee.....you use those muscles to stop the pee.....those muscles there......contract them ....like do a set of 10 several times a day.....3 kids...no problems here.

I had stitches from a organic start too, and it took around 6 to eight weeks for the final ones to dissolve. The soreness began to ease around a similar time. each and every lady heals/feels in any different case in spite of the undeniable fact that, so dangle in there! indexed here are some recommendations: - Tucks, as somebody stated, yet save them in the refrigerator, it's going to cause them to experience much extra acceptable. - in case you have a boppy pillow for breastfeeding, use it to sit down down on once you're actually not utilising it in any different case. the hollow in the middle is great for that! - Freeze slightly of water in a platic bag so it incredibly is flat, and wrap it in a kitchen towel for sitting on or relief. earlier you circulate to record, provide them a decision. they might look at in case you're able to return in, over the telephone especially cases. Congrats and dangle in there mommy, it gets extra acceptable!

You don't always get stitches. I did because I was cut, and tore a little. It wasn't so bad. Hurt when they were giving them, until they gave me a shot of something to freeze me. But I healed alright. If anything they fixed me up too tight, sex hurts sometimes.
