We plan on naming our boy Micah James. I have heard mixed reviews and I think of Micah-pronounced Mike-uh sounds very masculine. But I have heard of people thinking it as a girls name. Honestly I have not heard this as a girls name, but was wondering what your opinions were.

Also what about spelling it Jaymes? Do you think it would be mispronounced. I just think Micah sounds fairly unique and was wondering whether Jaymes would be pronounced (James) right. Also, if the spelling of Micah is feminine which spelling would make it more masculine?

Would Mycah be a better spelling for a male?

There are way to many Michaels in my family. It is why we did not go with that name. My ex sis and law and I had the same names, so we could never tell when someone was talking to me or her.

I like Micah James as well, but there were a few that didn't like the names and I wanted to know alternatives. Micah James to me I associate with a strong male, and seeing it as female never crossed my mind. Never in my life have I seen a girl named Micah and use it as it was originally made for.

I think the spelling looks a bit feminie, but to be honest that doesn't bother me as much as the fact it looks to me like it should be pronounced Mick-ah, not Mike-uh.

If it was pronounced Mike-uh that does sound more masculine, although it also sounds like its Mike with a weird sound added on! If you're really keen on that name though, I think Mikah looks a bit more masculine, for some reason. I'd still want to pronounce it Mick-ah though, but maybe that's just me.

I have never ever met someone with this name, so I can't form an opinion based on whether I know men or women with that name, because I'd never heard of it. Personally if i'd seen it I'd probably assume man, if I saw the middle name then I definitely would, but I'd be a bit wary and would just let it fit with the person I'd met. Of course I'd also pronounce it wrong!

I think stick with James not Jaymes, Jaymes looks to close to Jayne and that makes it look feminie, and you don't want that especially teamed with the first name that could be a little bit femine. At least if it's Micah/Mikah James then the middle name makes it clear it's a male name.

I'd think about maybe getting something where the pronouciation is easier, but maybe that depends where you are. Where I am this name is not at all common, so maybe that's why I would pronounce it wrong.

Micah sounds to me like a girl name, but sounds perfectly fine for a boy. James spelled Jaymes looks way to feminine (y's in names usually indicate female). So your original name Micah James is a good choice for a boy, and I wouldn't change the spellings.

Micah James is a great name for a boy and it's NOT feminine at all. I like the spelling of both names the way you had them originally.

Make sure that you use the name that YOU love the most or you'll regret it. Don't worry about what others think.

Anyone who is giving the name Micah to a girl is ignorant. Micah, as you undoubtedly know, was a Biblical prophet. Micah James sounds good to me, I wouldn't change the spelling at all. I know two people in the past 5 years who have named their sons Micah, though...I'm not sure exactly how popular it is currently or is going to be.

If you want honest answers..yes I think it doesn't sound masculine enough. I would go with the name Michael and then have a unique middle name or spell it with a y like you said: Michael Jaymes.

I think most people are steering away from overly popular names these days..so while you may think they are extra popular they are probably not too much different to some of these 'unique' names which are becoming really trendy and popular. I love the name Michael and I think the names James with a twist (adding the y to make Jaymes) is a nice touch. Well done.

I think that Micah is definitely a strong male name. I have known only boy Micah's.

I think that this is the best spelling. Add y's to names tends to make it much more feminine.

Micah James is a great name. No worries.

Micah James is definitely masculine and beautiful, it's a biblical name, I was going to name my son that but at the last minute opted for Elijah, as you can see I like Christian names, if I have another son I might name him Micah, I have known only guys that have had that name. I hope you use it.

Mycah seems much more feminine then Micah. I have a friend Micah. I never thought of it as a girls name. I really like Micah James :) Plus his nickname can always be MJ !!

I really feel sorry for your kid. Micah is a male name, but is kind of effeminate. It's one of those names like 'Leslie' than can be either male or female. James is a good name. Jaymes is not.
That name is never spelled that way and your spelling looks kind of girlie.

Are you trying to give your kid a complex?
