OK. Nylon is a synthetic fiber and so is water resistant. However, if you weave strands of nylon thread into a fabric, water can wick through the holes in the weave. A coating on the fabric (polyurethane or elastomer) can plug the holes in the weave, making "waterproof" fabric.
