Wendy's hamburgers are square because that is the way Dave decided to make them. What I heard was that he figured A) Square is different than the other fast food burgers, which would make his stand out. B) packaging and shipping would be easier. C) You could fit them together better while cooking them, meaning you could cook more at a time.

Its just the way that wendy's has always served their burgers since Dave opened his first restaurant, so i dont know the real reason they started it, you'll just have to ask Dave Thomas' daughter Wendy or at least the company President. Right now the commercials claim the reason for square burgers so the consumer get more meat but there are all sorts of mathematical measurements that have to be made to prove that.

So they think they aren't competing with McDonald's and Burger King....that is a good question why the buns aren't square...guess they only have a round baking pan...

It's a gimmick. The meat is square so that the meat hangs out of the bun and people think they are getting more meat.

I think they made the burger square for marketing. It makes them stand out cause most burger joints have round patties.

It could also be a way to package the frozen patties better.

Because they wouldn't be the hamburger we go there for....If they made them circles like Mc cheese palace then it wouldn't be Wendy's........

We go to each place, to Mc happy times for our kids and then Wendy's for better fast food. Our kids like nuggets either place, so we are really just going for us, even though the ones at Wendy's are better, I think.....

Square things use all the space available, corners are not empty. I read one that in Japan they are trying to plant cubic water melons which will use all the space available.
