that it is really rude to comment on peoples weight?
even when someone says 'wow u are skinny...u need to eat.'
i think that is just as rude as going up to someone and saying 'you are fat.'
I personally think if u are going to comment on someones weight u should keep it to yourself unless it is really positive because its so rude.

I agree that it is not a good thing to make negative comments about someones weight. If you think they are looking good, tell them they are looking good! If someone has lost weight, it is great to compliment them, for the positive reinforcement feels good. But, to say someone is too heavy is an awful thing to do. If a very good friend or family member is too thin and you are worried about them, it is a good thing to confront them in an intervention type way. Otherwise, if you are just jealous of their skinniness and want to bring them down, that's just a rude thing to do! If it's not positive and not helping the person out any, keep your mouth shut!

My mom has been bugging me about my weight lately, telling me I'm too thin, etc... When I am obviously a healthy weight (5'5'' and 120 pounds). It drives me nuts that she bugs me! Sometimes I think she is just jealous or something... which is an awful thing for a mother to be...

I agree with you, but knowing a person who got those comments alot explained to me why it happens: the person asking is trying to give you a comment because they have a poor self-image and are jealous that you are so skinny and they aren't. And the skinny person hates it either because they don't believe it and don't like to be told that, or they dislike being as skinny as they are. But really either way, i think that weight shouldn't ever be commented on- it never ends well.

It is rude, I completely agree. Commenting on how thin someone is can be just as rude as telling them how fat they are. Unless you are paying the person a compliment, don't comment.

it depends, sometimes ppl say 2 me 'god, your soooo skinny' and they mean 'i wish i looked like you' and sometimes they mean 'god, put on some weight, you look like youre about to die'. but i know that when a girl really is dangerously underweight because they have an eating disorder, not just slim like me, people know not to comment, because it might encourage them or something. to be honest, whatever they mean i think, 'yeah, thank god i'm not fat (like you)' lol but i just say 'thanks!', even if their being mean.
