I am from Australia. I have absolutly no problems with American people at all. I have just noticed in reading a lot of answers that many users seem to believe Americans are the only people on this site. A question asked at a decent hour here is answered with a comment of "why is this being asked at 3am". Other answers I have read make comments like "this is America after all" etc. I have seen quite a few examples of this. I guess I am just wondering if you don't realise people from other countries are asking and answering too??

soxy,

You make a good point, but do realize that we here in the States log in to Answers, and truly believe that all the questions here originate in North America, as we are not told otherwise, by Yahoo! or anyone else.

Now, I've been able to discern posts from the U.K. sometimes, but the written language is quite similar...same with Australia's written english.

I guess it's Yahoo!'s view that since we basically all speak the same language, that it would be prudent to combine us all into a mishmash of cultures. It really doesn't work...not quite.

What are our alternatives? For folks from U.K., Australia, and all other non-North American, english speaking countries to indicate that on their question, and put a condition of "answerers from U.K., Australia, etc., ONLY...

Ya know...there MUST be some way of putting like a miniature flag beside either our handle or avatar...with the flag where we originate from...that would work peachy. I wonder if they would do that, though...

Added 2/25...

It seems like what's been suggested has already reached Yahoo! Answers Staffers and they are looking into implementing the idea of attaching a flag to the avatar:

I for one hope it happens!

Because everything's written in English perhaps. Just seems like a majority of the people are Americans. I can usually tell who's an American by the tone and the way things are asked/answered and I always noticed lots of non-Americans here too.

People shouldn't ask why someone is up at 3:00am anyway. Nobody's business.

Though it may seem like it has already been answered. People are ignorant to the fact that their are people outside America who come on here and answer and ask questions. But that is how it is and pretty much has been. People in America pretty much think we are all that and that we are the best. Frankly, nothing has changed since 9/11. We are still the stubborn, foolish, bunch who buzz to and fro from place to place without a care in the world. I see America as a waste of space in my view, even though I am an American. It's only a matter of time before the war on terror is brought back to our shores. Maybe it'll take another one to wake us up and make us realize we aren't all that great. We aren't immune, unlike the rest of the world, to the day to day violence that tears families, neighborhoods, even some countries apart. Maybe once that takes place, maybe once we are shattered and rocked by another attack, (God forbid), once we are knocked off our high horse once again, then we will realize our fault in the international community. Then maybe "God will bless America".

Most of the people on here are Americans!

Some of us are more in tune with the rest of the planet, however. Just like Australians, or Frenchies, or Pakistanis, or whatever. Some people are too wrapped up in their own lives to notice the rest of us, you know?

BTW: I'm an American living in Korea and the time difference messes with my family and friends back home. They act like my time zone is invalid and I am somehow stupid for sleeping all day. What they don't know is that they are the stupid ones for sleeping all of MY day.

maximum folk have not heard of very many 0.33 events, as properly the fairway party. One subject is that a number of them are events that every person is fearful of, like the Socialist or Libertarian events. Then, the Democrats and Republicans have lots extra funds than them that 0.33 events do not in all probability stand of undertaking. maximum folk additionally dodge vote casting 0.33 party because of the fact there is no way that they might win which you would be able to as properly vote Republican or Democrat so which you will a minimum of have of undertaking of becoming a difference. Splitting the the voters 3 procedures would not artwork so properly right here. occasion: green party applicants tend to take votes from the Democrats, so Republicans oftentimes win.

that is very true. I think it's mainly because of the fact that while there are people here from other countries, the majority of the people on here are in fact americans. Sorry if that offends you. And actually, you have to realise that most people on here are young and ignorant to the fact that their is a world out side of america.

I see people in here from many nations. And I try to address their questions as well as possible. I cannot account for what everyone on here will write, but perhaps there are those on here who think they are talking predominantly to Americans. I just don't know.
