You should use "older" because you are using "Than me".
If you want to use elder need not to write "Than you".
Elder itself contains older in it , my dear friend.

My brother is 5 year elder to me.
Alexander is 5 year older than John.

Its purely semantics . Both the words gives the same meaning but its the appropriate sound that comprise a sentence which makes the whole sentence sound correct. For eg. U use- he is five year older than me BUT u use- he is elder to me.

The proper way to say it is: He is 5 years older than me. Elder is used as a term for a person in a position in church, or for someone who is elderly-like in their 80's, etc. I hope this helps you. Take care.

He is five years older than you are. He is your elder.

In general, I think you only use the word 'elder' to refer to someone who is significantly older than yourself.

Aloha :)
