I have just started work in an office but have pitifully few 'suitable' clothes. I hate looking too formal (feel like I'm at a funeral) but need to look smart. I shop at outlets like Punkyfish in my free time- wish I could own the shop.

Any ideas where to shop so I look presentable and sharp but not like just another Canary-wharfer or my mother.

you could try the new westfield in stratford or if you don't mind going out of london a bit but still be accessible by tube Brent Cross shopping centre you could also try the usual hotspots i.e. camden market oxford street bond street kings road carnaby street kensington highstreet knightsbridge edit Lakeside and Romford are in Essex if your spending the day in london the last thing you'll want to do is go to Romford it's a lovely town to shop in but you will enjoy London more

I would probably say Urban Outfitters, TopShop. Miss Selfridge and then of course All Saints, Reiss and Absolute Vintage by Liverpool St.

i think wallis is great. it's got smart but funky things, like snaggletooth suits, bright orange and lime green smart jumpers, retro jewellery, the lot. they do size 6-18 and petite, and it's reasonably priced!

I would suggest topshop, as they often have styles that often are on edge yet stays with formality.
