All I want to tell you is stay away from ME! I hated it, it hated me and it will hate you too. Everyone I know who has had it got rid of it. So many problems. I had 98 on my old computer and loved it. When I got my new computer it came with Millennium and it was absolute garbage. Do you know the answer to my computer problem? If you click my avatar it is the last question I asked. I don't know why I'm asking you that, just an idea. Sorry I don't know the answer to your problem, I just wanted to warn you about ME.

If you have upgraded from 98 to XP Open Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel. There may be Windows XP.Select it and uninstall. If it not present there, you will have to perform a clean installation. All the programs you have installed on XP will also be lost. To do this,

(1)Format the drive in which you have installed XP(You will lose all data stored in that drive)
(2)Restart your computer
(3)Boot from windows 98 CD
(4)Follow on-screen instructions and install 98
All you want to have is Windows 98 CD andyour System Disks like motherboard cd's.
You have done.Best of luck from Jonnan.

You generally don't have an option to uninstall your operating system itself. But, if you really wish to install Win98, try the following.
Boot with the 98 CD, quick format your hard drive, only the active partition, or the partition on which XP is installed is enough [format/q C:] (where c: is the partition/drive letter). Then type setup at the CD drive prompt (usually D:) & windows 98 will start installing on your hard drive.

It is not possible to hve first xp then 98.
So you have to format that portion of ur hard disk that has xp.
Then install 98.
Then xp if u want.
This is an issue of kernel.
Xp does not not provides an option to unload itself......u can remove it frm the command prompt.
by putting the installation cd of xp and going for repair.
tc.

Do a dual boot with XUBUNTU, it's free.

Install windows 98 first and leave enough free space for the installation of XUBUNTU.
