How can I check the pill ability of clothes ?

I've many clothes that they didn't show any pills on the MARTINDALE but when we use them some make pills on them and some are fine. now I want to know how can I check them before useing them??? thanks

I thought all synthetics are suspect able to pilling. IT seems like the heavier material (such as sweaters) are more susceptible to it.
