It's a cultural thing. When you're a kid and you hear people exclaiming, "Oh my god!" enough, you just pick it up as a habit.

This is no different than someone who grows up in a fancy, proper neighborhood where the curse of choice is, "Oh buttered fiddlesticks!" continuing to use this phrase even though he/she has never seen buttered fiddlesticks.

This is also no different than someone who grows up in a vulgar neighborhood where 'what the ******* hell dude?' continuing to use this even after earning a full scholarship to MIT and earning a PhD.

Such people might adjust, but the cultural indoctrination is always there.

I don't believe in God because I think it's just an answer for people who don't understand things or have problems they can't find answers to so they blame it on God. It's for people who can't take responsibility for their own mistakes or solve their problems on their own. I also don't believe in God because I believe science. It's more logical and contains proven facts, not just a couple beliefs and theories. And saying omg is just an expression... it doesn't actually mean we believe in God.

Many people see bad things in the world and wonder why a Just and Loving God would let them happen.

Of course God is not a super hero who swoops down and saves someone from a speeding bus or help you pass your trig exam.

Because they don't believe in him! OMG is just a common thing that is said, doesn't mean the person is religious if they say it

I'm an atheist. We're allowed to say OMG because god doesn't exist. However, when you say it, it's a sin.....

I can't see how anyone could say for sure that he does OR doesn't exist. There's no proof either way. It's all a gamble.

We agnostics are pretty smart and reasonable about it.

Because OMG is just slang, they don't mean anything religious by it. In fact, if they were religious, they wouldn't say it at all anyway because it's blasphemous.

they don't believe in god, they probably just believe in science. But you already know that "oh my god" is just a habit of the english language. I'll bet jews say "jesus christ!"

They simply use slang.
In theaters there's a tradition to wish the actor to brake his leg, but no one actually wants him to do this. That's language not the belief.
