If one is getting them thru an insurance plan the co-pays vary according to the insurance plan. If you don't have insurance b/c of money issues you can talk to a local health clinic or Planned Parenthood (not sure what the age limit on using them is) or go to a Medical School if one is close by.

As for side effects, yes, there is the possibility of side effects such as weight gain and such but you would need to discuss all that with a dr to find out what other options you have if the pill is not the right choice.

The Pill usually costs between $20 and $50 a month, depending on the type. Many health and family planning clinics (such as Planned Parenthood) sell birth control pills for less. In addition, birth control pills and doctor visits are covered by many health insurance plans.
Good luck to you!

Most pills are not expensive but either if they are it would still be cheaper than having another baby. Go to Planned Parenthood while your off work and tell them you are not working. Most of the time in Indiana they would give them for free. If you are working then they make you pay between $20-$30 a month for most people who dont make minimum wage.

it depends on what country you live in and what type of health plan you have. I live in canada and am on nuvaring. I have a student health plan and my b/c costs me about 8 $ a month. The pill is close to that for me as well. If money is an issue I recommend you discuss this with your health insurance provider to determine the most cost efficient methods for you. An IUD may be a great choice, it can cost quite a bit (up to a few hundred depending on the type) but stays effective inside you for YEARS. Anyway, talk to your doc too, they may have some good choices for you.
