The concept in society that boys should not show their emotion by bursting into tears, what ever the situation is.They should check it by any means. Do you agree with this or think that emotion comes only from heart and so it is quite natural that tear may comes to boys also.

Our society says that males crying means they are weak and cannot handle the pressures of being a man. Our society also says that men have to be the bread winners of the family. So, screw societal norms. Cry away. Most people accept it now. If a male makes fun of you, call him out on it. Tell him he is just oppressing himself and his species.

Just don't cry all the time. Keep it in check I broke up with a boyfriend because he cried all the time, mostly to get his way. I would make a sarcastic comment and he would break down in tears. It was unacceptable, I couldn't be friends with a girl who did that, so why a guy?

What SHOULD be and what IS are always two different things.

We SHOULD be able to get along with our neihboring countries.
We SHOULD care for the suffering.
We SHOULD be more informed about the world around us.
We SHOULD treat each other with respect at first contact.
We SHOULD seek to make the world a better place.

But we DON'T.

Different parents according to THEIR personal background define the rules differently for the boys they raise.

Some mothers ALLOW a boy to cry & not feel ashamed to do so.
Some mothers FROWN on a boy who cries easily or at all.
Some mothers tolerate boys crying at a certain point then NOT tolerating it at a certain later age.

SHOULD men/boys be allowed to cry?
YES. They SHOULD. All humans have pain due to the hell of life & need a mechanism to express it & relieve themselves of it.

But will they be able to?
Not always. And not much.

Boys in this culture and in many others are conditioned NOT to cry. Or to cry at only the most grave circumstances at best.
Men are actually more fragile than women emotionally.
It takes nothing to tear down a man.
That's why the most violent outbursts tend to come from men.
Men EXPLODE & the world wonders why.

You can't be surprised. They were taught either personally or by the larger culture (or both) that crying in males isn't tolerated & is shameful. That it makes you less than a man.

WOMEN frown upon men who cry as well. While they may tolerate it at his father's funeral say if he gets choked up on a emotional scene of the Lion King or Bambi or something & she will lose respect for him. Some women frown on a man crying AT ALL REGARDLESS of the circumstance. All part of that "big man protector" myth that comes from the old animal part of our brains.

Even if a boy shuns his parents' teachings on the issue the teachings are reinforced by his dealings with women in society. As well as men who subscribe to the "men don't cry" custom. So he clams up in total or hides his crying. And when things get real bad & he has no outlet for his emotions (other than anger, a man is allowed to show anger), he sometimes explodes into destruction. Men who punch holes in walls & break tables. And go on office shooting sprees.

It's something to think about. Our social practices cause a lot of pain in our society whether we think so or not. A smart society rechecks "tradition" & modifies whatever is necessary to make that society better for all its members.
They use to perform foot-binding in China calling it female beauty. Crippled women running around due to bizarre social practice.
That changed and others will change too once members of society reexamine what matters & what is useful.

In the meantime, boys are not allowed to cry.
But they SHOULD be.

It is shameful for boys to cry because of gender role stereotyping. I think it's BS. Making a little boy feel shamed, embarrassed, stupid, or belittled because he's crying is cruel.. and will produce an emotionally underdeveloped adult. Or a sociopath.

Tears come to every human naturally. Some repress them, both men and women, and thats not a good thing in my opinion.

Not really. Crying is needed for every 'normal' human beings. Crying is all about releasing the pressures and pain inside our soul and let them all go from us. A person who is never crying all his life is the one who suffers a lot in pain and misery of unknowing feelings inside him.
