Can we preserve the brain of a person and keep it alive by supplying blood from an artificial pumping device?

if the eyes are connected to the living brain, then can we observe the eye movements?

i don't think many people would want to live like that in the first place.

but i guess we may be able to do it. the brain needs to be supplied with fresh blood (blood has to be changed on a scheduled interval), there should also be nutrients, electrolytes, O2, hormones(?), and a mechanism to remove the waste products of metabolism (like CO2). if you want to see eye movements, one should also include all the muscles responsible for eye movement.

however, i believe we have advanced imaging techniques today that we don't have to preserve a brain and eyes just to see them move... this is more cost effective and more ethical... :)

It is a complicated thing as many connections in our brain are unknown.

Sure, but why? A brain with no body? That’s no way to live.
