SOME can... not all... i have had one running as an eathernet adapter, but it only runs at 10MB/s. You can pick up a cheap network adapter off ebay or even from a pc shop.

The USB port on your DSL modem is for computers that do not have ethernet cards. ISPs used to install ethernet adapters into people's systems but the liability of opening a customer's system was too great. The USB connection is a none-invasive method of connecting a computer that does not have an ethernet port. Typically if a computer is connected via USB, then the ethernet ports are disabled on the modem

If your system has an ethernet port, I would recommend to use that instead as there is no new software needing to be installed or configured on your system. Plus if you decided to allow more systems to access the same internet access, it will be easier to set up.

you could basically connect with a minimum of one computing device at a time considering the fact which you have basically one IP handle. in case you prefer to hook up with the internet on the two computers you're extra acceptable off getting a router otherwize you're able to recycle your modem whenever you turn computers. You recycle via unplugging the modem from the potential for 30 seconds and then plugging it decrease back in.
