Tendulkar's batting averages are slightly better, and he can also contribute with occassional bowling which gives more to the team - although Lara is a marginally better fielder. I don't think those things alone are what separates them though, as I think it has to come down to consistency, motivation and contribution to the team as a whole - in a team sport played by individuals. Because of this I think Tendulkar far outstrips Lara.

Lara admittedly hasn't had the same level of talent around him in the West Indies, but he seems capable of "giving up" far too often and his big scores have often been scored when they haven't counted. Conversely, Tendulkar rarely seems to give up the fight and his attitude not only scores himself runs but contributes to players around him playing better as well - helping make India a better team.

In a scrap I'd far rather have Sachin Tendlukar on my side than Brian Lara. It's also worth noting that the greatest cricketer ever to have played, Sir Donald Bradman, voiced opinions along similar lines.

Both of thems are world top players,

Sachin start playing for india when he was very young and lara came when he was aounrd 20-25,

Sachin still plays like he used to but lara is just now gone down he don't play he used to,

but if u go back to 1990s than its going to be Lara the best,
