Yes your low in RAM if your system starts to use a virtual memory w/c is the page file. It is the part of your HD allocated as virtual memory, your system start using it when it runs out of memory w/c is the RAM. Your system would significantly slow down when it starts using virtual memory. To avoid this it's best to put more RAM in your pc.

Virtual memory is a portion of the hard drive used by systems plus the amount of RAM in the system. Virtual memory is best set for minimum of 1.5 times and maximum of 2 times the amount of RAM in your system. The settings are adjusted through your system settings, to get there depends on the operating system you are using. your running too many things at once dont let them start up with windows disable them from start up and buy more ram and this p[roblem will be over buy 4 gb ram if your computer can take that go to the maxim of what your computer can take you dont need to
erase anything from system

buy more memory or try te erase all you dont need from system partition
