going down stairs is easy, crutches then legs. going up ?

I love the first guy. An Irish Nazi. what does that mean? Does it mean you get really drunk and kill yourselves? Ignorant ***.

Anyway, sorry I can't answer your question, I just wanted to say that the first guy is a jerk.

Put both crutches on one side when going up stairs. Use the other hand to hold onto the banister. He will have to put the crutch out at an angle or use the hand holds and keep the top part free from his underarm until he reaches the top of the stairs. This last part also works when trying to sit down. Use free hand to hold onto chair with both crutches on the other side for balance.

I damaged the ligaments in my ankle and spent quite a long time on crutches. To go upstairs you have the crutches on the same step as your feet, put your weight onto the cruthes and step onto the next step with your 'good leg' then bring up the crutches and 'bad leg' together. Sometimes it is easier to do this with one crutch and holding the rail, bit more stable.
When they taught me to use them I was told 'good leg' goes first (up and down stairs, and when walking) then the 'bad leg' with the crutches.

Simple way to remember it. UP WITH THE GOOD, DOWN WITH THE BAD, if it is an injury to one side. when going up stairs, step up with the good leg, then follow with the bad leg and crutches. When going down stairs, step down with the crutches and bad leg first, then follow with the good leg. I am an athletic trainer and have use this memory tool many times. It works for my patients. Try it out.

its best to only use one crutch keep your weight on the crutch and the hand that doesnt have the crutch put on the rail put the crutch on the stair in front of you then pull up on the rail

crutches and feet on same step, push up and step on the next. If he cann, just use one crutch and the banister. If he puts the crutch on the step above he might fall back. It was always easier for me to go up, I felt like i was going to fall going down!

hold onto bannister with one arm pull himself up and balance on other crutch. he has to lean a little weight on his legs but really he shouldnt be going up and down stairs anyway.

Reply to first responder.. UR AN IDIOT!! COULD BE BROKEN LEG OR DISABLILITIES YA KNO! HOW WOULD U FEEL IF U HAD UR LEGS BROKEN OR PARALYZED FROM WAIST DOWN AND ON CRUTCHES BUT DIDNT KNO HOW TO GO UP THE STAIRS

legs down, crutches up 1 step. Push urself up

This takes alotta energy.. so... carrying him up would be better

but if u can... legss down, crutches up 1 step, push down and bring ur body up. repeat

make sure hes near railing and/or wall so if he trips he can grab something. Just be close when hes going up and down

Same way going up. Someone should have taught him when they gave him crutches.

sounds weird but tell him to go up and down stairs on his rear end it worked for me, hope he gets better soon
