My ex would have welcomed the promotion.
Many women get very clingy which often alienates men who generally do not like this intrusive behaviour by a partner who is appearing to try to take over a chap's life.

Who is first and 2nd? Dump him! If he can't put you first then he's not worth staying with. It's bad enough being put 2nd but to the put 3rd is going over the top.

you should discuss it, if his/her first two priorities are reasonable (like religion and family) then i wouldnt worry about it. if he/she puts their job and best friend before you then i would be concerned. see what their reasons are for you being 3rd, maybe you and your partner arent as compatible as you both thought..

I was always third place after 1. himself and 2. his family. He was controlled by his family, scared to death of them, so it was easier for him to put them before me, cos he wasnt scared of me... but when I DID eventually decide enough was enough, and he KNEW I wasnt going to take it any more, he was then more scared of losing me than his family.. that's what it has to come down to. BUT you HAVE GOT to mean it and believe it yourself, otherwise he won't believe it himself.

personally I couldn't live like that, I always think that if you love someone, they come first.
