if the person feels that they have final closure from their past marriage and ready to date again, then that's the perfect time. but, i would suggest a bit of self-reflection before the do get out there and start dating. i know it sounds pathetic and many people don't like wasting their time, but it is beneficial. with the self-reflection, you will begin to start thinking of taking up hobbies and doing stuff for yourself that you weren't able to do before. it's a new beginning. create plans for your future. get your priorities in order. and focus on what you need at that moment - not want, but need. you will have a confidence about yourself and the will to take on the dating world again.

As soon as you don't feel compelled to talk about your ex.
On the other hand... you are not going to marry your date... so date whenever you feel like. Just make sure it's AFTER the divorce is final.
