I want to build a PC and i want an AMD processor because its cheaper and better than intel ones, but i cant find the difference between theese two types of processors. Its supoused that a dual core processor its better than a on dual one, but the FX-70 processor its pricer, whats the deal?
Also is it worth to buy a :
Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (64-bit, 3.0GHz, 2MB total dedicated L2 cache, 2000MHz HyperTransport™ bus, socket AM2) for $464 than a:
Athlon 64 X2 5600+ (64-bit, 2.8GHz, 2MB total dedicated L2 cache, 2000MHz HyperTransport™ bus, socket AM2) for $326 ?
I mean is it worth the extra GHz?
And what does a socket AM2 mean? whats the diference with a socket f one?
Thanks for any answers you can give me.
Cheers.

Well welcome to AMD. AMD has changed many things in regards to the competition from Intel and totally invented something different and these are all new and I wasn't even aware of them until they came out already. So AM2 was supposed to be their flagship processor socket, but since Intel's Core2Duo, they pretty much got destroyed :( So they went on and came up with the Socket F(single 1207) and now the Dual Socket 1207.
FX-70 is there brand new gaming processor, i think it goes higher than that though. It's actually 2 processors stacked on top of eachother its a little weird but if you saw one you'd know what I mean.
Don't look at pricing as performance, pricing is also a matter of supply and demand. Most people want the best so they charge more for it, the ones that don't sell as well go for cheaper.
I'm glad you brought this up because it reminds me I have a lot more studying I have to do!!
Thank You!
