I don't know about you, but the more I visit Yahoo answers the dumber I believe people to be. I would say people on Yahoo answers are about as intelligent as the support agents you call up when your computer is in serious trouble.

Some do not realize how powerful search engines are.
Some do not realize that it is better to search for answers by themselves.
Some just do not know how to use search engines well.
Sometimes, it is hard to think of the right keywords.
Some want to hear more answers.
Some love the thought of using Yahoo Answers.

Haven't you ever asked something you knew you could easily research just to see what the Crowd would say to you? The function of this kind of Forum is not neccessarily for the imparting of knowledge or wisdom, even though that sometimes happens by accident. People are not, in our natural setting, logical beings. Our behavior also lacks logic. This Forum has value anyways.

Sometimes, people pose a question though they know the answer, but they want a different view-point other than what they already know or can find using the search engines.
Of course they know how to use a search engines.

They have faith in Y/A , they get good support from it, thats why they use it for , even easier questions and in the mean time they also can help other users by giving or trying to give some good answers.

It is quite true - I mean how many times can you ask why the sky is blue - there must be thousands of people who have posted that question ..... among many other examples.
