I love seeing celebrities donating millions of dollars to charities. Could someone tell me why it is such a problem for Oprah to give her money to Africans? They are people just like us. To my understanding, she does give a certain amount to American Charities. So why do Americans get so angry when this happens?

Because many americans don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. If an american had a dollar, and an african family of 10 had a dollar, the american would claim to be poorer. I should point out though that not all americans are like this. Which is why we have people like oprah and bill gates givings millions each year to charities abroad.

They are mad because they think that money can help more people here in this country. Some parts of Africa are money-pits. You can dump all your cash into the hole and never see any difference. I just hope she's working with people who have the experience and know-how to make the money do something effective and not just wind up being used for some rich kid to gold-plate his AK.

Because many are selfish and think about themselves first. And I bet those same people don't appreciate the fact that they can go to school for free and not worry about being turned away because of gender or social class.

It is said, "Charity begins at home". What Opera is doing is great and sounds logical to me. She is black, too. People who're angry are nothing but ignorant, arrogant and jealous.
