Most of the video editing programs are similar to Movie Maker in that they use a storyboard and a timeline. I think that Movie Maker is the easiest to use if you are comfortable with Microsoft software.

The documentation for Movie Maker could be a lot clearer but try help and then "Getting Started". Or Import a video and drag it to the timeline and start playing with the buttons in the preview window. The tips that pop-up when you move your mouse over the buttons will help you learn how to use the program.
